  • Suljhao, Magar Pyar Se- A Platform For Mediators In India
ODRways, an initiative taken by students of National University of Juridical Sciences Kolkata, seeks to address both these issues and promote mediation in India, by integrating it with technology. They have developed the first of its kind online platform “DOMAIN” (Directory of Mediators in India), exclusively for Indian mediators. The platform will serve as the first national directory of mediators in India in a customized layout, making it easier for common man in India to engage with relevant mediators to resolve disputes. It will also serve as a portal for all mediators to come together, indulge in knowledge sharing sessions and stay updated with all the mediation related developments across the country. This portal will be accessible to general public, legal professionals, businesses and government organizations.

Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) platform which aims to provide "online mediation" services for consumer disputes in Kolkata, was recognized  by Google as the "Socially Most Innovative Platform of year 2015". We also run a blog by the name "The ODR Blog" to spread awareness about mediation and legal technology in India. The initiative has been appreciated by the former law minister of India, Mr Salman Khurshid, and the underlying idea of providing mediation services in both online and offline mediums has also been supported by judges, lawyers and ADR organizations such as Center of Advanced Mediation Practice (CAMP), Delhi Dispute Resolution Society (DDRS) etc.

This is not a conceptual solution but an established alternative judiciary system in India, called Mediation. This collaborative method of dispute resolution has proven to be successful around the world by helping people resolve their matters in a fast, efficient and timely manner. In India, this would have far reaching impact on relieving the over burdened courts which have a backlog keeping them tied for over 150 years! Although mediation is globally strong & proven alternative to courts, it suffers from two issues in India: lack of awareness and lack of accessibility.

So if you are a certified mediator, or a legal practitioner with at least fifteen years of practice, or a professional with at least fifteen years experience in a particular field, or a retired senior bureaucrat, or a retired senior executive, interested in practising mediation, then join the DOMAIN by filling up this simple registration form available here. It is completely free as there is no listing fee for the first six months. Sign up immediately to make your mediation services easily accessible to people in India!

ODRways does not believe in resolving disputes by making it a battle but by applying the age old proven mechanism – ‘Suljhao, magar pyar se’.
