    On 02.04.2024, An Introductory and Interactive Session for Panel and Pro-Bono Advocates was organized by Delhi High Court Legal Services Committee for its empanelled advocates including Pro Bono Advocates, Jail Visiting Advocates, Mediators and Arguing Counsels. The Session was chaired by Justice Rajiv Shakdher, Judge, Delhi High Court and Chairman, DHCLSC who motivated advocates to work more efficiently and sincerely for the weaker sections of the society. Justice Rajiv Shakdher also had one-on-one interaction with the empaneled advocates and addressed their concerns. The Session also had in attendance Mr. Arul Varma, Addl. District & Sessions Judge and Secretary, DHCLSC, Mr. N.Hariharan, Senior Advocate and Ms. Nandita Rao, Advocate and Members Monitoring & Mentoring Committee, DHCLSC.

    Justice Rajiv Shakdher also addressed the gathering and shared his vision of DHCLSC by unveiling the initiatives which the Committee proposed to undertake in future in order to enhance the professional, emotional and sport quotient of its empanelled advocates. Mr. Arul Varma announced a series of Capacity Building Programs for the empanelled advocates of DHCLSC for the month of April-May, 2024 which shall see in attendance distinguished members of Bar as well as Bench as guests and resource persons. The Committee also announced its 1st DHCLSC Badminton Tournament 2024 during the Session and invited its empanelled advocates to participate in it with team spirit and enthusiasm.

    The Session ended with an open house discussion and interaction between the dignitaries and empanelled advocates which lead to a healthy exchange of ideas.


    The first event in the series of Capacity Building Programs was held on 04.04.2024 where Captain Raghu Raman addressed the empanelled advocates on the topic “Art of Storytelling: Essential Tool in the Armoury of Lawyers”. Captain Raghu Raman is an author, TEDx Speaker and Former Indian Army Officer and currently, is a Leadership Advisor to the Chairman of Adani Group and anchors a Leadership Talk on NDTV called “Wisdom of Leaders”. The event came up as an enriching experience for all empanelled advocates of DHCLSC.

    Delhi High Court Legal Services Committee (DHCLSC) is a legal aid institution established under Section 8A of the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987 which is bestowed upon the function and responsibility to provide free and competent legal aid to the weaker sections of the society who seek legal aid to approach the High Court of Delhi to seek justice. A total of 234 advocates are empanelled with DHCLSC in the capacity of Jail Visiting Advocates, Arguing Counsels and Mediators who work sincerely and diligently to protect the rights of the weaker sections of the society and represent their interest before court of law. The office of DHCLSC organizes Capacity Building Programs for its empanelled advocates to upscale their professional, personal and emotional quotient.

    In addition to providing free and competent legal aid, DHCLSC also undertakes to organize legal literacy drive in jails, observation homes etc. to spread legal awareness amongst the marginalized sections of the society.
