    Bombay High Court

    In a significant judgment, the Bombay High Court held that the Federation of Labour Law Practitioners cannot be registered as a trade union under the Trade Unions Act, 1926.

    The High Court granted interim stay on an order passed by the State Information Commissioner (Greater Mumbai), Ajit Kumar Jain, wherein the Deputy Registrar of the High Court was directed to furnish information regarding applications made by judges since 2010 before the state government seeking allotment of residential plots, apartments etc.

    On Monday, the High Court passed an ex-parte order against Patanjali Ayurved owned by Baba Ramdev restraining them from broadcasting a particular advertisement that plaintiff Hindustan Unilever sought injunction against.

    The High Court recently rejected the bail application filed by a 19-year-old youth who was accused of sexually assaulting a 10-year-old boy at his residence.

    The High Court quashed and set aside an order of the Additional Sessions Judge, Thane, convicting accused Yellamma Mehatre and Firoja Shaikh under Section 366A (procuration of minor girl) of the Indian Penal Code.

    Calcutta High Court

    The Calcutta High Court held that without producing the cheque before the drawer bank, complaint under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act will not be maintainable.

    Delhi High court

    The Delhi High Court held that the availability of revisional remedy under Section 399/401 of the Cr.P.C does not bar the invocation of inherent powers under Section 482 of the Code. In reaching the decision, the Delhi High Court followed the decision of the Supreme Court in Prabhu Chawla v. State of Rajasthan AIR 2016 SC 4245.

     The High Court, on Wednesday, scorned at the Delhi Development Authority for filing frivolous objections against execution of an earlier order.

    The Delhi high Court directed the Delhi Government to file status report on alleged molestation of blind children and ensure their safety

    On Wednesday, the High Court refused to entertain a Petition demanding an audit into the accounts of Delhi International Airport Ltd. (DIAL) and Mumbai International Airport Ltd. (MIAL) by the Comptroller and Auditor General of accounts.

    The High Court directed Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali Ayurved from airing a commercial for its soap which it prima facie found to be disparaging to the goodwill of Dettol being manufactured by Reckitt and Colman.

    The High Court bench of the Acting Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice C. Hari Shankar on Friday requested senior counsel, Raju Ramachandran, to assist the Court as Amicus Curiae in hearing the pending petitions challenging marital rape.  The petitions have been filed by an NGO, RIT Foundation, and the All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA) with some interveners filing IAs.

    Gujarat High Court

    The Gujarat High Court, last week, upheld the denial of enrolment to a practicing Chartered Accountant. The Court was hearing a Petition filed by Mr. Mam Raj Goel, who had submitted that he shouldn’t be barred from enrolment as he wasn’t a salaried employee.

     Jharkhand High Court

    The Jharkhand High Court, last week, directed the High Court Rules Committee to examine whether there was a need for amending the HC Rules, 2001 to make it compulsory for a person who swears on an affidavit to mention his Aadhaar number and submit a photo copy of the Aadhaar card as well.

    Kerala High Court

    The Kerala High Court came down heavily on the police by deprecating Police action of evicting person in settled possession and orders restoration of possession

    Madras High Court

    The Madras High Court, on Monday, directed the Tamil Nadu State Election Commission (TNSEC) to conduct the local body elections by 17 November.

    The High Court recently directed the Department of Higher Education and Directorate of Collegiate Education to issue a circular on implementation of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 to all colleges.

    Patna High Court

    A division bench of the Patna High Court comprising Chief Justice Rajendra Menon and Justice Anil Kumar Upadhyaya  recently issued notices to the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

    Rajasthan high Court

    The Rajasthan High Court, last week, quashed an FIR filed by a Bank alleging wrong legal advice by a lawyer in the form of a forged search report for grant of loan.

    Uttarakhand High Court

    The Uttarakhand High Court, on Thursday, directed the Senior Superintendents of Police and Superintendents of Police to check overloading of public conveyance as well as transport vehicles, including school vans.
