“Matter is sub-judice, Indian judiciary which is fair and impartial will take an independent view on this (Italian marines case)”, said the Official Spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affaris Mr. Syed Akbaruddin, in relation to the ongoing case against two Italian Marines for killing two Indian fishermen.

Reportedly, the Italian President Giorgio Napolitano has blamed the Indian government and said, "There has been scarce political will to provide a fair solution." He also said, "The malfunctioning of the Indian justices system (shows that this problem) is not just an Italian one."

The statements of the Italian President come after the Supreme Court of India had rejeceted the pleas of Italian marines, who were seeking that there stay in Italy be extended due to medical reasons. The Court had then said, “The trial has not commenced. Even the charge sheet has not been filed. It does not happen anywhere in the world. We are sorry.”
