A lady doctor has made a written complaint to the district judge of Rohini court after being served stale food at the canteen in the court complex which made her sick with food poisoning, hyperacidity and severe stomachache.

Parul Sharma, a doctor who runs rehabilitation centre and special school in north west Delhi, has been pursuing a case wherein she has sought police action in a fake medical degree racket.

She was visiting the Rohini district court on January 17 for a meeting with her advocate Birender Sangwan to discuss the developments in the matter which was listed for January 18.

“After meeting the advocate, my mother and I went to the canteen and ordered few food items. When I took first few bites, I just thought there is some problem with the taste but my mother sensed the food was stale,” Parul said.

When they enquired with the cook, he at first refused to admit the food had gone foul but later said he might have used the raw material from a day before and offered to prepare the food afresh for them.

Parul said advocates present in the canteen also raised their voice against stale food being served in the canteen.

She and Sangwan then “made a complaint with the police who visited the canteen and also collected a sample of the food being served”.

Another complaint was sent to the district judge asking him to take action.

Sources said the tender was given to the contractor running the canteen for three months sometime last year. However, the same was extended and there has never been any inquiry into the kind of food he serves or the manner in which the kitchen is being managed.

Sagwan said it has been three days but no action has been taken while advocates and litigants are at risk.
