An application has been moved before the Mathura court in the Sri KrishnaJanm Bhumi-Shahi Idgah dispute matter seeking direction from the Court to stop Namaz that is being offered in the Shahi Idgah and on the adjacent road.

"This is the property of Hindu Parties and Namaz was never offered in the Idgah Premises but in last few years the opposite parties have been offering five times namaz intentionally, which is legally impermissible. As per Holy Quran also, Namaz can't be offered on the disputed land. The opponents are deliberately trying to disturb communal harmony and they are even offering Namaz on the road...", the application moved by the president of Sri Krishna Janmabhumi Mukti Aandolan Samiti, Advocate Mahendra Pratap Singh avers.

The application also states that the Mughul emperor Aurangzeb had built the mosque on the disputed site by dismantling the Srikrishna temple in the year 1669 and that the walls of the Idgah still have signs of Om, Swastik, and Shesh Nag.

"Filing an application before the Mathura Court, we have prayed for the directions to stop the opponents from offering Namaz on the disputed land. The court has been requested to pass an injunction order restraining the Muslim community from offering namaz in Shahi Masjid Idgah and on the adjacent road. In the past as well, the DM had also been requested to stop the offering of Namaz", said Advocate Mahendra Pratap Singh, speaking to Live Law.

The matter is likely to be heard by the Court on January 5.

Earlier, in June 2021 as well, the Sri Krishna Janmabhumi Mukti Aandolan Samiti had moved an application before the Mathura court offering a piece of land [to the Muslim party/mosque's management committee] which is larger than the one on which the 17th century Shahi Masjid stands allegedly inside the Katra Keshav Dev temple complex.

The offer by the outfit had been made on a condition that the mosque's management committee would have to voluntarily demolish the shrine on its own and has further offered the Committee to resolve the issue amicably.

Further, the offer had referred to the 2019 judgment of the Supreme Court in the Ram Janmabhoomi case where the court had ruled in favor of the Hindu parties but had asked the government to provide land to the Muslims for a mosque, in return.
