    Prof. (Dr.) Ashok Ramappa Patil has been appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of the National University of Study and Research in Law (NUSRL), Ranchi.

    The NUSRL in a post on its website said: “Hon’ble Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court cum Chancellor of National University of Study and Research in Law, Ranchi has appointed Prof. (Dr.) Ashok Ramappa Patil as the Vice Chancellor of the University today.”

    Prof. Patil has succeeded Prof. (Dr) Kesava Rao, Vurrakula.

    Before his appointment as NUSRL Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Patil was serving as Chair Professor of Consumer Law and Practice (Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Government of India) at NLSIU, Bangalore.

    He holds a B.Sc. in Criminology & Forensic Science, LL.B (1996), LL.M. (Mercantile Law) and Ph.D. degrees. He has further qualified National Eligibility Test NET and holds a Diploma in Computer Application. He has also achieved NCC ‘C’ Certificate, NSS Certificate and is an Accredited Mediator.

    Prof. Patil has published more than 8 articles in International Journal and more than 42 articles in National Journal. He has publication of more than six books to his credit. He has also presented more than 30 research papers at the International level and more than 58 papers at National level Conference Seminars.

    Prof. Patil has organized more than 41 training programs/workshops for Non-Governmental Organization, consumer forum members, Government & Private Lawyers, consumer club teachers and others.

    He has received Asian Law Institute’s Fellowship (ASLI) in 2010 and visited National University of Singapore for research in Consumer Protection Issues.

    Prof. Patil has been the member of Drafting Committee on Consumer protection Bill, 2019, Rules & Regulations under Consumer Protection Act, 2019. He has also been the member of ‘Working Group on Consumer Advocacy’ and ‘Central Consumer Protection Council’ of Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Government of India. 

    Prof. Patil is the Board Member of The International Association of Consumer Law (IACL). He is also the life-time member of International Academy of Financial Consumers (IAFICO), Seoul.
