    Senior Advocate V. Shekhar, who practiced before the Supreme Court of India today passed away due to COVID-19.

    He was born in Delhi and studied commerce at graduation level before securing an LL.B. degree from the University of Delhi and he had a post-graduate degree in Political Science also from the University of Delhi.

    After his enrolment with the Bar Council of Delhi, he started practicing law in the year 1980, he appeared before the Supreme Court in cases related to civil, taxation (direct and indirect), service law, corporate law, criminal, arbitration and constitution, administrative law.

    Advocate Shekhar was designated as a Senior Advocate in the year 2006 and he was on the panel of Senior Counsels for the Government of India in the Supreme Court since the year 2006.

    He was impaneled in the year 2012, as Special Senior Counsel for the Government and he was elected as a senior member of the Executive Committee of Supreme Court Bar Association during 2007-2008, 2008-2009, and 2011-2012, and served as Vice-President of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) twice.

    He was also a member of the International Bar Association, London, and INSOL. He had received a number of awards and ado's for his achievements in the profession, sports, literature, etc. from national and international organizations and societies.
