  • NLU Jodhpur Lifts The Winning Trophy Of 2nd National Moot Court Competition Organized By Law College Dehradun

    Day 2 began with great fervor, with 8 out of 32 teams going all guns blazing into the quarter final round and then only 4 team’s qualified for the semi-final round. It won’t be wrong to say that the teams had to go through a tough time to reach this point. The following teams went to Semi-finals:



    • University Institute Of Legal Studies- Punjab University

    • National Law University, Jodhpur

    • Hidayatullah National Law University

    • Chanakya National Law University, Patna


    The Judges seemed to be all interested to find new arguments and gauge the participant’s legal acumen.

    After the law battle, the teams which managed to crack the final round were:



    • National Law University, Jodhpur

    • Chanakya National Law University, Patna


    The final round went up with lots of knowledge, practice and grilling session by 5 bench Judges, which was comprised of:



    1. Hon’ble Mr. Justice B.S. Verma, Former Judge, High Court of Uttrakhand at Nainital.

    2. Hon’ble Mr. Justice Rajiv Sharma, Judge,High Court of Uttrakhand at Nainital.

    3. S.N Babulkar, Advocate General, State of Uttrakhand.

    4. Vijay Bhatt, Sr. Advocate, Managing Trustee, Bar Council of India.

    5. (Dr.) Rajesh Bahuguna, Principal and Dean, Law College Dehradun.


    The round went on with the statements from the Petitioner, Respondent and ended up with the Rebuttal, of course, with constant questions bombarding from the bench’s end testing the skills of the Councils.

    After the Final round, the Valedictory Ceremony commenced at 1 PM by thanking its esteemed Judges, Faculty and Administration.  The Patron of The Moot Court Committee, Respected (Prof.) Dr. Rajesh Bahuguna proceeded with elaborating on the aims of the Moot Court Committee and he summarized the event of the last 3 days which was followed by then a valuable speech of respected Judges.

    The dignitaries were quite impressed with the quality of the competition and Hon’ble Mr. Justice Rajiv Sharma, Judge, High Court of Uttrakhand at Nainital also took the promise of organizing the International Moot Court Competition admiring the hard work and interest of the participants and Law College Dehradun, Faculty of Uttranchal University.

    After all this, finally the moment was arrived which was eagerly awaited by all holding their breath. The team which won the 2nd National Moot Court Competition, 2017, Law College Dehradun, Uttranchal University was: National Law University, Jodhpur

    • Runner Up: Chanakya National Law University, Patna

    • Best Momorial: Chanakya National Law University, Patna

    • Best Research: Chanakya National Law University, Patna

    • Best Speaker (Male) : University Institute Of Legal Studies- Punjab University

    • Best Speaker (Female): Hidayatullah National Law University


    With much joy and excitement after the result declaration, Law College Dehradun, Uttaranchal University proceeded with a Vote of Thanks to everyone involved in the organization of the competition.

    The Day ended up with a huge Celebration resulting into Gala night where all the participants and Organizing Team along with Law College Dehradun, Uttaranchal University Respected Dean (Prof.) Dr. Rajesh Bahuguna, Chairperson Ma’am Ms. Poonam Rawat and also the most wonderful faculty member Mr. S. Anand, had an amazing DJ Night, everyone danced and swayed to the beats of the music and ended at a note of a very delicious and tasty dinner
