    The National Law Institute University, Bhopal (“NLIU”) is thrilled to announce the North India Rounds of Surana and Surana National Trial Advocacy, 2017 and Surana & Surana National Judgment Writing Competition, to be hosted by NLIU in collaboration with Surana & Surana International Attorneys, from 27th to 29th October, 2017.

    Theme:The moot problem of the competition is based on contemporary issues pervading throughout the criminal law of India. Further, this moot is the only moot in the country to adopt the unique format of following the full trial procedure, including the witness examination.

    Aim:The aim of the competition is to train students in the area of trial advocacy, and to evaluate their performances in a sombre real-life setting. Through the organisation of this competition, also wish to provide the participants with an experience which will be enriching and satisfying.

    The competition is conducted over a span of three (3) days where the participating teams will have to go through two Preliminary Rounds where they will argue each side of the Case, Quarter-Final Rounds, Semi-Final Rounds, and the Final Round which will be judged by distinguished legal dignitaries with established practice in criminal law field.

    In upholding our long tradition of hospitality, the participants will be provided with accommodation, food and conveyance during the competition.

    Who can apply?

     The Moot Court Association of NLIU, along with Surana & Surana International Attorneys, extend a warn invitation from law schools/law institutions from Delhi, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, to participate in the competition.

    Seat count:Please note that the participation of teams shall be limited to twenty (20) teams on first-come-first serve basis, of the teams completing duly filled-in online registration forms.
