  • Publication of results delayed by Calicut University: 400 Law Students affected

Delay in publishing results has come in the way of the prospects of about four hundred final-year Law students studying in Calicut University. Students of 2008 batch of the University are still waiting for their results of last two semesters. The delay is crucial as contemporaneous students of Mahatma Gandhi University and Kerala University have passed out and enrolled as advocates.

Examination of 9th semester of 5 year LLB batch and 5th semester of 3 year LLB batch were held on July 2013, but the valuation is not over yet. In November 2013, Final examinations were conducted. A check with the university indicated that the answer scripts of the final semester examinations held in November 2013 are yet to be distributed for evaluation. University authorities are evading their liability by blaming the faculty of Govt Law Colleges for the delay as they are holding the unevaluated answer scripts of 9th and 5th semester examinations.

Reports say that the students are extremely worried regarding the delay.  Anguish and disappointment of students over delay in the publication of results is evident from what a student of final year had to say. Speaking to Live Law, she said that the way University handles valuation, the course name should be changed from 5 year LLB to 7 year or may be 8 year LLB!  Many students who are preparing for LLM entrance examinations this year are in dilemma whether they will be able to pursue postgraduate programmes in institutions of their choice because of the delay in the publication of their results. Students have also expressed concerns over the safety of the papers. Missing answer script or a bundle of scripts and compelling students to retake the examinations has become a customary practice of University.
