A Supreme Court bench comprising justices B S Chauhan and J Chelameswar asking for copy of certain documents, extended the stay on the execution of death penalty of two of the four convicts in the December 16 gangrape and murder case, till April 14 and said till April 14 the interim order will continue by which advocate M L Sharma, counsel for the two convicts, will submit the post-mortem report of the Singapore hospital where the victim was treated and died to her injuries.

Besides seeking for the trial court records, the apex court on March 15 had stayed the execution of death sentence of Mukesh and Pawan Gupta till March 31 and then till April 7. Besides Mukesh (27) and Pawan (20), the Delhi High Court had also upheld the conviction and death penalty of Akshay Thakur (29) and Vinay Sharma (21). Live Law reported, that the High Court of Delhi confirmed the death sentence awarded to the accused in the Delhi Gang Rape Case by upholding the decision of a Delhi fast-track court awarding death penalty to four convicts in the December 16 gang rape-cum-murder of the physiotherapy student. A Bench of Justice RevaKhetrapal and Justice Pratibha Rani upheld the judgment of the Trial Court after hearing the appeals of the four convicts and also the death reference sent by the trial court. It had said if this case was not "the rarest of rare cases" then "there is likely to be none".
