    The International Law Society of School of Law along with School of Law, KIIT University and International Law Students Association (ILSA) is organizing 1st KIIT National Conference on International Law from 15th TO 17th January, 2016. The everyday newspaper is filled up with issues which need to be discussed by the young minds. Keeping this in mind, the International Law Society at KIIT School of Law is organizing the   Conference with the intent to provide the young generation with a platform where they can deliberate upon the theoretical as well as practical aspects of International Law.

    ABOUT THE CONFERENCE



    • The conference aims to give a platform for interaction between the students and practitioners and academicians who possess vast knowledge in the areas so identified in the themes.
    • The conference themes are covering both public and private international law areas like international refugee law, international criminal law, international environmental law, international commercial arbitration, intellectual property rights & international law, and anti-trust/ competition law. Each of the identified themes comes with its own issues and challenges.
    • The conference aims to discuss about these challenges and to come up with solutions.


    ABOUT THE ORGANISERS

    International Law Society

    The International Law Society at KIIT School of Law was established on the 23rd of July, 2009  with the basic mandate   to prepare conscientious and competent legal professionals;   in addition it aims to develop among the students a sense of responsibility by developing socially relevant skills and approaches, and for developing better understanding of International Law and co-operation among students, academicians, organizations and educational institutes in the country and around the world, especially within the ILSA network.

    School of Law, KIIT University

    The School of Law, an integrated part of KIIT University, was established in the year 2007 have consistently grown in stature and strength are one of the few law schools in India to provide conjoint degrees in the form of BA.LLB/BBA.LLB/BSc.LLB, and one of the very few Law schools providing for separate specialization subjects involving eight papers each in International Law, Intellectual Property Law, Business Law, Constitutional Law, Crime and Criminology and Taxation Law.

    International Law Students Association (ILSA)

    The International Law Students Association (ILSA) is a non-profit association of students and
    lawyers who are dedicated to the promotion of international law. ILSA provides students with
    opportunities to study, research, and network in the international legal arena. It seeks to promote awareness, study, and understanding of international law and related issues; encourage communication and cooperation among law students and lawyers internationally; contribute to legal education; increase opportunities for students to learn about other cultures and legal systems worldwide; and publicize educational and career opportunities in international law.

    Symposium on International Law – Contemporary Issues and Challenges

    The International Law Society will host a Symposium on International Law – Contemporary Issues and Challenges during the Conference. The objective of this Symposium is to foster the interest and explore the contemporary areas in international law. The Symposium will aim at focusing different facets of Public International Law from the perspectives of Criminal Law, Environmental Law and Refugee Law. The event will also analyze emerging trends of Private International Law in the regimes of Intellectual Property Law, Anti-trust Law and International Commercial Arbitration.

    Treaty Negotiation Competition

    The International Law Society will also host a Treaty Negotiation Competition during the Conference. Treaties are a serious legal undertaking in international law. Once in force, treaties are legally binding on the parties and become part of international law. Their importance as a source of international law is ever increasing. The Competition has been designed with the intention of testing the participants‟ aptitude for diplomacy, negotiation, analytical skills etc. which play an important role in the field of international law and international relations.

    Guidelines for Registration



    • The interested applicants may confirm their participation by sending the scanned copy of the filled up Registration Form to klsils@kls.ac.in by 30th   December, 2015.
    • The original copy of the filled up Registration Form should be sent via post by 30th December, 2015 along with the Registration fee of Rs. 500/- (Rupees Five Hundred only).
    • The participants have to send a soft copy of their itinerary to klsils@kls.ac.in by 6th January 2016.


    Mode of Payment

    All payments should be made in the form of a Demand Draft drawn in favour of „KIIT‟, and payable at Bhubaneswar (stating the name of the participant and the institution at the reverse side of the demand draft), addressed to:

    Awards: All the participants will receive a Participating Certificate for the Conference during the Valedictory Function. The prize winners for different events will receive a separate certificate commemorating their achievement along with the trophies, monetary prize and other benefits.
