The mother of S Aneeshya, has approached the Kerala High Court seeking a fair and proper investigation by an independent agency like the CBI into the criminal conspiracy that led to the suicide of her daughter on January 21, 2024.

Aneeshya was working as an Assistant Public Prosecutor (APP) at Munisff Magistrate Court in Kollam and it is alleged that she committed suicide due to continuous mental harassment and torture from her superiors at work. It was alleged that Aneeshya faced male dominance and sexist attitudes from her superiors at work that caused her depression and mental stress.

The single bench of Justice P G Ajithkumar is hearing the matter. The matter is posted for hearing on March 27, 2023.

The plea states that Assistant Public Prosecutor (APP) Shyam Krishna, Deputy Director of Prosecution (DDP) Abdul Jaleel, and another APP S Smitha compelled Aneeshya to appear in Court neglecting her health issues.

It was alleged that DDP Abdul Jaleel did not permit Aneeshya to take leave to undergo medical treatment. The plea stated that due to bad health, Anneshya was unable to appear in Court and they started harassing her by holding a grudge against her.

It was alleged that many APPs did not attend office regularly and Aneeshya had to attend to the works of others also due to which she was under a lot of work pressure. The plea stated that a lawyer filed an application under the Right To Information Act seeking details of APPs who failed to attend their offices and everyone mistook Aneeshya for instigating the lawyer for filing it.

The plea alleged that her superiors started mentally harassing and threatening Aneeshya by sending insulting and indecent messages in their official WhatsApp group. It was alleged that this was a criminal conspiracy hatched by her superiors to coerce her to withdraw the application filed under the RTI Act. Further, it was alleged that the DDP read her confidential report in front of everyone and criticized Aneeshya for not managing her staff.

The plea stated no investigation was carried out even after Anneshya's husband registered an FIR at the Paravoor Police Station. It is also alleged that the departmental inquiry that was initiated was only for the namesake since the inquiry officer was close friends with the conspirators who led Aneeshya to commit suicide.

It is also alleged that since higher officials were involved, no free and fair investigation was expected from the police. Further, the plea alleged that despite finding Aneeshya's suicide note and WhatsApp messages as evidence, the police were not recording statements of culprits and were showing a partisan attitude.

The mother alleges in her plea that despite making several requests, the police were not conducting a proper investigation. Thus, the mother seeks a fair and proper investigation by the CBI into the criminal conspiracy that led to the suicide of her daughter Aneeshya.

The plea is moved by Senior Advocate S Sreekumar, Advocates Martin Jose P, A Jani, P.Prijith, Thomas P Kuruvilla, R Githesh, Ajay Ben Jose, Manjunath Menon, Sachin Jacob Ambat, Anna Linda Eden, Harikrishnan S, Karthika Saroj
