Election Commission of India (ECI) urges Goa bench of the Bombay High Court to defer hearing the petitions before it, pertaining to rejection of Form 8 (change of address) arising from the completion of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in the State.

ECI has cited the November 2025 Supreme Court order, which had restrained other High Courts from hearing any petitions challenging the validity of the SIR and any other issues pertaining to the said process.

ECI also referred to the order passed by the principal seat of Bombay High Court, wherein a bench led by Chief Justice Mahesh Chandra Tripathi has deferred hearing a plea highlighting flaws in implementation of the SIR for three weeks.
