‘A political leader holding public office cannot use statutory proceedings for their political motives,’ Gujarat High Court said while rejecting Arvind Kejriwal’s plea against order imposing cost over #PMModi Degree Row

HC said that the manner in which Kejriwal responded to CIC in the proceedings against him and further pursued the matter by filling written submissions ‘speaks of itself and need no further comments or observations’ from the court.

Referring to the scheme of the RTI Act the HC said that action of CIC in taking ‘suo motu’ cognizance passing an order treating Kejriwal as an applicant is outside the scope of the Act.
