Supreme Court, yesterday in regard to the Indian woman gang-raped on orders of village court, directed the District judge of Birbhum in West Bengal to furnish a detailed police report regarding the incident.

Bench consisting of Chief Justice P Sathasivam, Justices Ranjan Gogoi and MY Eqbal  said that the report filed by the district judge pursuant to the direction of Supreme Court dated 24th January, does not contain the information regarding the steps taken by the Police against the persons concerned.

Live Law had reported earlier that the Supreme Court has taken suo motu cognizance of gang rape of a young tribal woman by 13 villagers in West Bengal.

The Bench has directed the District Judge, Birbhum, West Bengal, and Chief Secretary, West Bengal to submit a detailed report of the follow up action taken by the Police concerned within two weeks.
