NLSIU To Host Justice A.M. Ahmadi Distinguished Lecture By Gopalkrishna Gandhi On 'Human Instincts And The Law'
The National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru, in collaboration with the Ahmadi Foundation, will host the 2nd Justice A.M. Ahmadi Distinguished Lecture on July 12, 2026, at the Bangalore International Centre (BIC) Auditorium.
The lecture, titled "Being Brutally Frank: Human Instincts and the Law," will be delivered by noted diplomat, author and academic Gopalkrishna Gandhi from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM.
The lecture will explore whether frankness and honesty are innate human instincts or qualities cultivated over time, and whether speaking candidly carries personal or civic risks. Drawing upon history, literature and contemporary events, the lecture will examine the relationship between truthfulness, human behaviour and the law.
The annual lecture series is organised under the Justice A.M. Ahmadi Initiative on Rule of Law, Democracy and Social Justice, established jointly by NLSIU and the Ahmadi Foundation to honour the legacy of former Chief Justice of India A. M. Ahmadi.
Launched in 2025, the initiative seeks to promote public engagement with constitutional values, judicial independence, democracy and social justice. The inaugural Justice A.M. Ahmadi Distinguished Lecture was delivered by historian Ramachandra Guha.
