The Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016, introduced in the Lok Sabha, has been referred to a joint parliamentary committee (JPC) under the chairmanship of Satyapal Singh (Baghpat), MP, for presenting a report to the Parliament after careful examination.

It was decided that views and suggestions would be sought on the Bill from individuals and associations/bodies concerned. The Bill has been uploaded on the Lok Sabha website.

All those who wish to submit their views/suggestions to the committee may send two copies of their written memoranda/suggestions either in English or Hindu on the subject to Additional Director, Lok Sabha, Secretariat, Room No. 317 (OC0, Third Floor, Parliament House Annexe, New Delhi – 110 001 or Fax at 011-23016238 or email at jccab-lss@sansad.nic.in latest by 30th September, 2016.

The Memoranda submitted would be treated as “Confidential” and would enjoy privilege of the Committee. There’s also the option available of appearing before the Committee besides submitting the Memoranda, subject to the Committee’s final decision in this regard.
