The Kerala State Legal Services Authority (KSLSA) conducted the National Lok Adalat on 14 July, disposing of 17,991 cases in total. The settlement amount involved in the exercise was approximately Rs. 200.85 crores.

The Lok Adalat was conducted under the guidance of KSLSA’s Executive Chairperson, Justice K. Surendra Mohan, and was coordinated by the District Legal Services Authorities and Taluk Legal Services Committees.

Elaborating on the number of cases taken up, an official release stated, “More than 64,000 civil and compoundable criminal cases, matrimonial disputes, bank recovery cases, motor accident claims, land acquisition references were considered by 339 Lok Adalat benches comprising of sitting and former judicial officers and lawyers. In the High Court, 19 aces were settled out of 220 cases listed.”
