The Indian Journal of Constitutional Law (IJCL), NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad, has announced its Call for Papers for Volume XIV (2026). In a significant development, the Journal is also introducing its first-ever Special Issue, alongside its General Issue, marking an expansion in its publication model. The Journal has, over the years, emerged as a leading platform for rigorous constitutional scholarship, bringing together contributions from academics, practitioners, researchers, and students.

All submissions undergo a rigorous editorial review process consisting of multiple rounds of scrutiny and peer review.

About the Organiser

The Indian Journal of Constitutional Law (IJCL) is a flagship academic publication of NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad. Across its decade-long history, the Journal has featured scholarship from established and emerging voices in constitutional law and public law scholarship.

About the Call for Papers

IJCL is inviting original and unpublished submissions for both:

1. General Issue – Volume XIV (2026)

The General Issue welcomes contributions across a broad spectrum of constitutional law and allied public law disciplines. Contributions may adopt doctrinal, theoretical, comparative, or interdisciplinary approaches.

2. Special Issue: Dignity: Promise and Practice

The Special Issue seeks to critically examine dignity as one of the most foundational yet contested ideas in constitutional discourse. Building on conversations initiated at the National Conference on Dignity Law: Promise and Practice, held at NALSAR University of Law in July 2025, the issue aims to interrogate the relationship between dignity as constitutional doctrine and dignity as lived experience.

Indicative themes include:

· Philosophical and moral foundations of dignity

· Dignity and constitutional interpretation

· Dignity in Indian and comparative constitutional jurisprudence

· Dignity within criminal justice processes

· Caste, gender, sexuality, disability, and dignity

· Institutional practices and state power

· Clinical legal education and dignity

· Critical perspectives on dignity and structural injustice

Interdisciplinary, empirical, and critical approaches are strongly encouraged.
