DBRANLU Law Review Journal (Students' Edition) Invites Submissions For Inaugural Volume (2026)
Dr. B.R. Ambedkar National Law University (DBRANLU), Sonepat, was established by the State Government of Haryana in 2019 through State Legislature Act No. 15. The university stands as a premier institution reflecting India's commitment to justice and constitutional values. Strategically located with excellent connectivity to Delhi, it offers B.A. LL.B. (Hons.), LL.M., and Ph.D. programmes, combining academic rigour with ethical and social awareness.
The university houses eleven specialised research centres, three dedicated cells, and a Legal Aid Clinic, fostering holistic legal education and community engagement. Its modern, eco-friendly campus embodies Dr. B.R. Ambedkar's vision of law as a means of social transformation. Through MoUs with institutions such as V.V. Giri National Labour Institute, Institute of Constitutional and Parliamentary Studies, and the University of Waikato, New Zealand, the university promotes global collaboration and exposure. It is guided by Hon'ble Chancellor Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh, Hon'ble Governor of Haryana, and Hon'ble Visitor Mr. Justice Surya Kant, Hon'ble Chief Justice of India.
1. About the Journal
The DBRANLU Law Review Journal (Students' Edition) is a student-run, double-blind peer-reviewed journal of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar National Law University, Sonepat. It is aimed at promoting legal scholarship, research, and intellectual discourse among law students and emerging legal academics across India. At a time when students are encouraged to pursue academic excellence and publication but often face limited credible platforms, the journal seeks to provide a meaningful space for student voices in legal academia.
The journal upholds high standards of academic integrity, originality, and scholarly rigour. Beyond publication, it helps develop future legal scholars by involving students in the editorial process, building skills in academic writing, critical analysis, and editorial judgment. The journal aspires to become a recognised platform in Indian legal academia while reflecting the university's commitment to academic excellence.
2. About Call for Papers
The DBRANLU Law Review Journal (Students' Edition) is inviting original submissions for its first inaugural edition (Volume I, 2026). The journal welcomes contributions across diverse fields of law including constitutional law, corporate law, technology law, environmental law, human rights, international law, and contemporary legal developments. Interdisciplinary perspectives are also encouraged. All submissions are subject to a three-tier editorial review process before publication.
3. Eligibility
The journal is open to law students and emerging legal academics across India. Submissions are accepted from individuals as well as co-authored works. The number of contributors is limited to a maximum of two, one Author and one Co-Author. Guest authors may also contribute.
4. Theme
The journal welcomes original contributions across the following broad thematic areas:
A. Constitutional Law
• Fundamental rights and duties jurisprudence
• Constitutional amendments and judicial review
• Interpretation of Constitutional Articles
• Social justice and affirmative action
B. Criminal Law & Justice
• Criminal procedure reforms and New Criminal Laws
• Prison reforms and rehabilitation of prisoners
• Digital governance, cybercrime, and law in the digital age
• Women, children, and the criminal justice system
C. Corporate & Commercial Law
• Corporate governance and accountability
• Competition law and antitrust regulation
• Insolvency and bankruptcy frameworks
• Securities regulation and capital markets
D. Contemporary Development in Law
• Technology law, cyber law, data protection, and privacy regulations
• Artificial intelligence and algorithmic accountability
• Analysis of recent legislative, regulatory, and policy developments across multidisciplinary fields
• Emerging trends in Intellectual Property Rights, sports, and media laws
Note: The aforementioned sub-themes are suggestive in nature; contributors may submit research papers on any other relevant topic within the broader theme.
5. Submission Categories
The journal accepts the following types of submissions. The length of each submission shall be as per the category selected, exclusive of the abstract and footnotes:
• Research Papers: Original, analytical papers presenting in-depth research on a legal topic
• Articles: Shorter pieces offering critical commentary or analysis on legal issues
6. Formatting Guidelines
To ensure uniformity, authors must strictly adhere to the following formatting requirements:
• Font: Times New Roman throughout
• Font Size: Headings & Sub-headings 14 pt; Body Text 12 pt; Footnotes 10 pt
• Heading Styles: Level 1 Justified, Caps, Bold | Level 2 Justified, Bold | Level 3 Justified, Italics, Underlined
• Line Spacing: 1.5
• Page Margins: 1 inch on all sides (A4 size paper)
• Abstract: Justified alignment, not exceeding 300 words
• Keywords: Listed below the abstract; 3–5 keywords; italicised and bold
• Footnotes: Must conform to OSCOLA (4th Edition) referencing style
• File Format: Submissions must be provided in both Microsoft Word (.doc) and PDF format
• Manuscripts must not contain any metadata or identifying information
7. Submission Guidelines
• Submissions must be unpublished and original works of the author(s) and must not be simultaneously submitted to any other journal or publication.
• Each submission must be accompanied by an abstract not exceeding 300 words, briefly outlining the research question, methodology, key arguments, and conclusions.
• Authors must include 3–5 keywords accurately reflecting the content of the submission.
• All relevant sources must be hyperlinked wherever possible; where an online source is unavailable, citations must be provided through footnotes in OSCOLA (4th Edition) style.
• Author details (name, institutional affiliation, year of study/designation, email address, and phone number) must be provided in a separate cover letter and must not appear anywhere in the manuscript.
• Any submission with a plagiarism/similarity score of 10% or above (as per UGC guidelines) shall be summarily rejected. A Turnitin report must be submitted along with the manuscript.
• AI-generated content must be less than 5% of the total submission and may only be used to enhance language, not for substantive content generation.
• The number of contributors is limited to a maximum of two — one Author and one Co-Author.
• Post-publication, authors retain the right to publish modified versions elsewhere, with due attribution to The DBRANLU Law Review Journal (Students' Edition).
• The Editor-in-Chief reserves the right to interpret and enforce these guidelines and to accept or reject submissions at any stage of the editorial process.
8. Submission Deadline
Submission Deadline: April 20, 2026
The Editorial Board will endeavour to review and process all submissions within six weeks of the submission deadline. Authors may expect an initial response within two weeks of submission.
9. Submission Procedure
Submissions must be made through the official online portal. The following documents are required at the time of submission:
• Main manuscript with title (without any author identification)
• Separate cover letter containing author details and institutional affiliation
• Originality/Plagiarism Report generated via Turnitin
• Signed Undertaking Form (available via QR code in the brochure)
The editorial process consists of three tiers:
• Tier 1 — Preliminary Review: Assistant & Junior Editors screen submissions for compliance with guidelines. Results communicated within two weeks.
• Tier 2 — Substantive Review: Managing & Senior Editors assess originality, analytical rigour, and relevance. Manuscripts are accepted, accepted with revisions, or rejected. Authors have two weeks to incorporate suggested changes.
• Tier 3 — Final Review: Editors and the peer review board conduct the final assessment before publication.
