HPNLU Journal of Disability Studies Announces Call for Papers for 2026 Edition
Himachal Pradesh National Law University (HPNLU), Shimla, is a premier institution dedicated to advancing legal education, research, and policy discourse in India. Established with the objective of fostering academic excellence and social responsibility, the University promotes interdisciplinary scholarship and engagement with contemporary legal challenges. The Centre for Human Rights and Disability Studies at HPNLU works to strengthen discourse on disability rights, inclusive governance, and human dignity through research, publications, and academic initiatives. The HPNLU Journal of Disability Studies reflects this commitment by providing a scholarly platform focused on disability law and allied disciplines.
About the Call for Papers
The HPNLU Journal of Disability Studies (ISSN: 3108-110X) invites original and scholarly submissions for Volume III (2026) from academicians, researchers, professionals, policymakers, and other stakeholders. The journal follows a blind peer-review process to ensure academic rigor and quality. Manuscripts must be submitted in MS Word (.docx) format via email, and the last date of submission is July 15, 2026. Queries related to submissions may also be addressed through the same communication channel.
Theme
The overarching theme of the journal centers on disability laws, rights, and related jurisprudence, encouraging critical engagement with evolving legal, social, and policy frameworks affecting persons with disabilities. The journal seeks to promote inclusive scholarship, first-person narratives, and multidisciplinary perspectives that challenge marginalization and contribute to meaningful disability discourse.
Who Can Submit
Submissions are invited from academicians, researchers, students, scholars, legal professionals, policymakers, disability rights activists, practitioners, and interdisciplinary experts working in allied domains. The journal aims to create a collaborative academic space representing diverse voices within disability studies.

Authors must email their manuscripts to editorjds@hpnlu.ac.in in .docx format with the subject line:

All submissions must reach the editorial team on or before July 15, 2026, and communication regarding queries or clarifications may be directed to the designated editorial email.
Submission Categories
- Articles: 6000–10,000 words
- Essays & Comments: 4000–6000 words
- Case Comments & Legislative Comments: 4000–6000 words
- Book Reviews: 3000–4000 words (to be submitted along with a hard copy of the reviewed book)
Submission Guidelines
- Manuscripts must be written in English and accompanied by an abstract of 250–300 words highlighting novelty and contribution beyond existing literature.
- Co-authorship is permitted for up to one co-author.
- The manuscript must be anonymous, with no reference to author identity.
- Formatting requirements:
- Text: Times New Roman, font size 12, 1.5 spacing
- Footnotes: Times New Roman, font size 10, single spacing
- Citations must follow the HPNLU-Shimla Citation Style and use footnotes only.
- Excessive quotations, lengthy footnotes, unreliable web sources, and similarity above 10% are not permitted.
General Instructions
- Submissions must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere.
- Proper acknowledgment of sources is mandatory; paraphrasing without attribution is unacceptable.
- Copyright of published works vests with HPNLU, Shimla.
- Authors bear responsibility for any legal consequences arising from copyright infringement, defamation, or contempt.
- A cover letter must accompany the manuscript, including author details, institutional affiliation, and declaration of originality.
