HNLU Labour Law Students Visit Bhilai Steel Plant To Gain Practical Exposure To Industrial Operations And Labour Law
Students of the Vth Semester Labour Law programme at Hidayatullah National Law University (HNLU), Raipur, visited the Bhilai Steel Plant on September 12, 2026, as part of an academic initiative aimed at providing practical exposure to industrial operations and the functioning of labour and industrial laws in a workplace setting.
During the visit, the students were taken through various stages of steel production, from the processing of raw materials to different phases of manufacturing. A guided tour of the plant enabled them to observe industrial processes, operational systems and workplace practices firsthand.
The students also interacted with personnel at the plant, gaining insights into their roles, responsibilities and experiences. The discussions offered a closer understanding of working conditions, occupational safety measures, employee welfare practices and the overall industrial environment.
The visit provided the students with an opportunity to examine how legal principles relating to workers' rights, workplace safety, welfare measures, employer-employee relations and industrial practices operate within a large industrial establishment. It helped bridge the gap between classroom learning and the realities of industrial workplaces.
The university stated that such initiatives form part of its emphasis on experiential and practice-oriented legal education, enabling students to engage directly with institutions and workplaces to develop a comprehensive understanding of the practical application of law.
The visit was conceived and curated by faculty members Dr. Atul Jaybhaye, Ms. Garima Panwar and Dr. Shailesh Pandey as part of efforts to enhance experiential learning in the context of labour and industrial law.
