RPNL Prayagraj Holds Orientation Programme For 2026–2031 Batch, Signs MoU With HPNLU Shimla

The programme began with the welcome and introduction of the Chief Guest, Prof. (Dr.) Priti Saxena, Vice-Chancellor, Himachal Pradesh National Law University (HPNLU), Shimla, and the Guests of Honour, Prof. (Dr.) Bindu S. Ronald, Vice-Chancellor, Maharashtra National Law University, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, and Dr. Seema Kaul Singh, Director, Institute of Constitutional and Parliamentary Studies (ICPS). The inaugural ceremony included the lighting of the lamp, rendition of Saraswati Vandana, and the University's Kulgeet.

Welcoming the students, Sr. Prof. (Dr.) Usha Tandon, founding Vice-Chancellor of RPNLU, congratulated the incoming batch and encouraged them to uphold the University's values of academic excellence, integrity, and social responsibility. She highlighted the achievements of previous batches and emphasised that the University focuses on a holistic curriculum beyond classroom learning.

Addressing the students, Prof. (Dr.) Priti Saxena congratulated them on their success in CLAT 2026 and urged them to pursue excellence throughout their legal careers. Drawing inspiration from the lives of eminent jurists such as Oliver Holmes and Nani Palkiwala, she highlighted the importance of perseverance, intellectual curiosity, and lifelong learning in the legal profession.

Dr. Seema Kaul Singh acquainted the students with the vision, objectives, and academic initiatives of the Institute of Constitutional and Parliamentary Studies (ICPS) and encouraged them to actively engage with its programmes. She also proposed organising a visit to Parliament for the University's students.

Delivering her address, Prof. (Dr.) Bindu S. Ronald observed that legal education extends beyond the study of statutes and judgments. She encouraged students to develop interdisciplinary knowledge, critical thinking, and a broader understanding of society. Through an interactive exercise, she urged students to reflect on their role as compassionate and responsible legal professionals committed to making a meaningful difference in society.

A key highlight of the programme was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Himachal Pradesh National Law University, Shimla and Dr. Rajendra Prasad National Law University, Prayagraj, aimed at strengthening academic collaboration, research, and institutional development.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Deepak Sharma, Assistant Professor and Convener of the Orientation Programme for the 2026–2031 Batch, followed by the rendition of the National Song and the National Anthem, and a group photograph of the dignitaries, faculty members, and newly admitted students.

The orientation programme reflected RPNLU's commitment to nurturing competent, ethical, and socially conscious legal professionals while providing the new batch with a strong foundation for their academic and professional journey.
