Dr. Rajendra Prasad National Law University (RPNLU), Prayagraj, observed Earth Day by organising a plantation drive at its under-construction permanent campus in Kalindipuram, Jhalwa.
The event was attended by Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Usha Tandon, along with the Registrar, faculty members, and students, all of whom participated in planting saplings to promote environmental awareness and sustainability.
As part of the initiative, a variety of saplings were planted across different sections of the campus with the aim of enhancing green cover and maintaining ecological balance. Participants collectively took part in the activity, reflecting a shared commitment to environmental responsibility.
Prof. (Dr.) Usha Tandon, an expert in Environmental Law, highlighted the importance of individual and institutional efforts in protecting the environment. She emphasised the role of educational institutions in fostering environmentally conscious citizens and promoting sustainable practices among the youth, and underscored the need for continued initiatives focused on environmental preservation and awareness.
Earth Day, first observed in 1970 following an initiative by Gaylord Nelson in the United States, has since grown into a global movement promoting environmental protection and sustainability. The theme for Earth Day 2026 is “Our Power, Our Planet.”
The plantation drive reflects the university's commitment to ecological responsibility and its efforts to instil sustainable values among students.
