Mr. Brahmananda Sharma, who is now a Civil Judge and Judicial Magistrate of Sarwar town of Ajmer District, reportedly lost his eyesight due to glaucoma at the age of 22. However, this did not deter him from pursuing his dream of becoming a Judge.

When he was turned down by coaching ccenters his wife took charge and would read out books to him and record these readings. He made it a habit to listen to these recordings frequently.

His hard work paid off and he cracked the 2013 Rajasthan Judicial Services Examination  in the first attempt, securing 83rd rank. He then went through a yearlong training, after which he joined the service in 2016. He was initially posted in Chittorgarh, and was recently transferred to Sarwar.

Mr. Sharma now uses an e-speak device connected to a computer, which converts and records the notes made by the reader into speech. He requests lawyers to read their plaints and attached documents, records the same, and goes through them several times over. Naturally, he advocates for increased use of technology in Courts, emphasizing on the fact that this can ensure enhanced access to the illiterate.

Speaking to TOI, he says that he is elated at having achieved his dream, without making any compromises, and speaks like a true winner when he says, "I have no remorse for my disability".
