The Advocate's Association of Bengaluru has written a letter to the Karnataka State Law Minister, J C Madhu Swamy, to restore 50 percent reservation to resident students of Karnataka in admission to the National Law School Of India University, Bengaluru.

As per the communication sent on January 4, states that reports in print and electronic media that state cabinet has given approval by amending National Law School Of India University (Amendment) Bill, 2017, by fixing the reservation to 25 percent from 50 percent for the resident students of Karnataka. It is indeed the students of Karnataka who have suffered a lot since the establishment of the National Law School of India University. Like all other states National Law School have given adequate reservation quota for their local resident students.

The letter also says that the move is a clear case of Injustice meted to the resident students of Karnataka. Our association strongly oppose the reduction of the reservation made by the state cabinet. In view of the admissions for the academic year is nearing it is very much necessary to refix at 50 percent instead of 25 percent, in order to safeguard the interest of resident students of Karnataka.
