The Allahabad High Court has announced that all the subordinate courts in UP, including the Commercial Courts, Motor Accident Claims Tribunals and Land Acquisition Rehabilitation and Resettlement Authorities, will remain closed until further orders.

Earlier, the High Court had intimated that all the courts subordinate to it will remain closed until the expiration of the lockdown period on May 3.

This was done in view of the letter addressed to High Court by the Additional Chief Secretary of the state, requesting the High Court to open the subordinate courts only after expiry of the lockdown period.

Now since the lockdown period has been extended by the Central Government till May 17, the High Court has decided to keep the subordinate courts closed until further notification.

A letter intimating the same has been addressed to all the Distinct Judges in the State, whereby the Registrar General of the High Court has asked them to ensure "strict compliance" of this direction.
