The Allahabad High Court has published the fourth and fifth editions of its 'Historical Judgments in e-Booklet Form', featuring Hindi translations of the judgments delivered in the pre-independence 'Cawnpore Bomb Blast Case' and the landmark 'Raj Narain v. Indira Nehru Gandhi' case.

The e-booklets were launched on May 20, 2026 by the AI Assisted Legal Translation Advisory, e-AHCR and ILR Committee. The fourth edition contains the Hindi translation of the Allahabad High Court's March 15, 1946 judgment in Criminal Appeal No. 1028 of 1944 relating to the 'Cawnpore Bomb Blast Case', while the fifth edition carries the Hindi translation of the June 12, 1975 judgment delivered in Election Petition No. 05 of 1971 in 'Raj Narain v. Indira Nehru Gandhi'.

The High Court stated that earlier editions in the series included the 'Chauri-Chaura Case', 'Keshav Singh Case' and the 'Agra Conspiracy Case'. It added that Hindi translations of judgments in other historical cases would also be published in future editions.

According to the High Court, the fourth edition concerning the 'Cawnpore Bomb Blast Case' relates to allegations of conspiracy and bomb blasts under colonial Indian law and stemmed from charges of alleged seditious activities against British rule.

Referring to the 'Raj Narain v. Indira Nehru Gandhi' case, the High Court stated that the matter challenged former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi's Rae Bareli Lok Sabha election victory and established that free and impartial elections are of utmost importance in a democracy and that no one is above the rule of law.

The High Court further stated that the e-booklets are intended to make judicial heritage accessible to legal researchers, lawyers, judicial officers, law students and the general public. The e-booklets will be available free of cost on the official website of the Allahabad High Court under the 'e-AHCR' tab.

The High Court stated that the AI-based translation project is being carried out by the SUVAS Cell at Allahabad and Lucknow under the patronage of Chief Justice Arun Bhansali and the guidance of the AI Assisted Legal Translation Advisory, e-AHCR and ILR Committee headed by Justice Ajit Kumar.

It further stated that the SUVAS Cell has translated more than 82,000 judgments of the Allahabad High Court and over 300 Supreme Court judgments arising from Uttar Pradesh into Hindi and made them available on the High Court's official website.
