A Bengaluru Sessions Court on Tuesday (January 20) directed over 30 media entities including TV9 Karnataka News, India Today group, The Hindu, Times of India, to remove any allegedly defamatory content against senior Karnataka cop Ramachandra Rao K suspended after a purported obsence video surfaced. 

The court of CCH23 XXV Additional City Civil and Sessions Judge in its order said:

"Pending consideration of I.A No.I, by means of exparte Temporary injunction, the defendants, their Reporters, and Anchors or anybody claiming through them are hereby restrained from making, publishing, telecasting, broadcasting, uploading or circulating any news, defamatory comments, statements or allegations or call recordings against the plaintiff in print media, electronic media, television channels, websites, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Telegram, Whats App, Youtube etc., till next date of hearing".

It further directed the defendant media entities to "remove and take down all such defamatory videos, audio clips, call recordings, visuals, news paper reports that are available in websites, digital platforms and official social media handles forthwith" pertaining to the suspended DGP(Civil Rights Enforcement). 

"Issue exparte order of temporary injunction, if order 39 Rule 3 of CPC is complied. Issue emergent notice on I.A Nos.I and II and suit summons to the defendants..." the court said.

The matter is listed on February 27. 

As per various news reports, the DGP was suspended hours after a purported video showing him behaving inappropriately surfaced.
