The centre has notified the appointment of Bibhu Prasad Routray, Judicial Officer as a Judge of the Orissa High Court.

The Supreme Court Collegium had recommended his name as such by a resolution dated October 3. The Collegium had also recommended the elevation of Advocate Sanjeeb Kumar Panigrahi but the centre's notification is silent on that aspect.

Through the same resolution, the Collegium had deferred the consideration of Advocate Savitri Ratho for appointment as a Judge and remitted the files of Advocates Gautam Mukherji, Samir Kumar Mishra, Prasanna Kumar Parhi, Prafulla Kumar Rath, Durga Prasad Nanda and Pravat Kumar Muduli, and Judicial Officers Satya Narayan Mishra, Gautam Sharma and Biranchi Narayan Mohanty, back to the High Court.

The above names had been recommended to the Collegium by the Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court, Justice Kalpesh Satyendra Jhaveri, on May 7 this year.

Routary was posted as the first District Judge of Judgeship of Nabarangpur and is presently posted at Berhampur, Orissa. His appointment will take effect from the date he assumes charge of his office.
