The Consortium of National Law Universities has extended the last day for submitting online applications for the CLAT 2021 examination to May 15, 2021.

A notification in this regard was issued on 28th April, which read thus:

The Executive Committee of the Consortium of National Law Universities met on 28th April 2021. After reviewing recent developments the Committee resolved to extend the application deadline due to difficulties faced by students arising out of bank closures and lockdowns. The last date for submission of CLAT 2021 online applications has been extended upto Saturday, the 15th May, 2021

The last date for submission of online applications was earlier announced to be April 30, 2021.

The CLAT examination, initially scheduled to be conducted on May 9 was postponed to June 13 vide notification dated January 6.

However, in a notification issued on April 19, the Consortium of National Law Universities had informed the applicants appearing for CLAT 2021 examination that since the Pandemic situation is currently being monitored, it shall take the stock of the situation in the first week of May and will decide a date thereafter.

The notification issued by the Convenor of Clat 2021 read thus:

All applicants of CLAT-2021 are hereby informed that Consortium of National Law Universities is monitoring the COVID- 19 Pandemic situation and will take the stock of the situation in the first week of May 2021 regarding the date of test. Notification will be issued on the website of Consortium subsequently. The applicants are advised not to panic at this stage as the Consortium shall be taking appropriate steps as time and situation demand and shall keep the applicants updated accordingly.

According to the notification, those students who secured 45% marks or higher in their 10+2 exams will be eligible to appear for CLAT 2021. The cut-off is 40% for Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe candidates.

The application fee for the exam is Rs. 4,000 (Rs. 3,500 for SC/ST candidates).
