A plea has been filed before a Delhi Court seeking action against Chief Minister Rekha Gupta over an alleged remark comparing government officials to Lord Hanuman during an official government programme.

Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Ashwani Panwar of Rouse Avenue Courts sought response of the Delhi Police and directed that a status report be called.

The complaint has been moved by one Ram Niwas Sharma under Section 223 of Bharatiya Nyaya Suraksha Sanhita, 2023.

The matter will now be heard on October 15.

According to the complaint, the alleged statement was made by Gupta on September 23, 2025, at Kashmere Gate ISBT, during a programme organised to launch Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) bus services from Delhi to Baraut in Uttar Pradesh.

The complainant alleges that the Chief Minister, while addressing government officials, public servants and members of the public, made remarks referring to officials as “Hanumans” who remember their powers only when their tails catch fire.

The complaint quotes the alleged statement as saying: “These Hanumans remember their temporary powers only when their tail catches fire; before that they forget it.”
