A court in Delhi has issued summons in a defamation suit filed by Reliance Group Chairman Anil Ambani against Cobrapost, Economic Times publisher Bennett, Coleman & Co. Ltd., and others over reports alleging his companies committed a fraud of over Rs 41,000 crore. The court however, did not pass any interim orders injuncting these publications.
The matter was heard by Senior Civil Judge Vivek Beniwal at Karkardooma Courts.
Ambani had filed an application seeking an ex parte ad-interim injunction against these publications
During the hearing, the court clarified that Amabni does not have a good case for interim relief at the moment and therefore his counsel did not press for an interim relief at this stage. It however issued summons in the main plea and scheduled the next hearing on December 5.
The defendants named in the suit include Cobrapost.com, Live Media and Publishers Pvt. Ltd., Bennett, Coleman and Co. Ltd., and John Doe (unknown entities).
Ambani was represented by Advocates Vijay Aggarwal, Naman Joshi, Guneet Sidhu, Rahul, Verdan Jain, Muskan Aggarwal, Rajat Jain and Yash Aggarwal.
