District Bar Association Chandigarh Calls 'No Work Day' On October 15 Over Mistreatment Of Advocates During Delhi Protests
The District Bar Association (DBA), Chandigarh has called on its members to abstain from work on October 15, 2026. The Association cited the proposed “Punjab Bandh” and the reported humiliation and mistreatment of advocates at the Supreme Court of India in New Delhi during a recent protest.
The decision was taken unanimously at an emergency meeting of the DBA's Executive Body on October 14, 2026.
"The Executive Body has unanimously decided to observe a "No Work Day" on 15.10.2026 in connection with the proposed "Punjab Bandh" and in strong protest against the reported humiliation and mistreatment of Advocates at the Supreme Court of India, New Delhi during the recent protest," stated the resolution.
The resolution, signed by the President and Secretary of the Association, asks all members to “strictly follow” the “No Work Day” and abstain from work on that day.
It also requests judicial officers to cooperate by adjourning all cases to suitable dates, and not to pass any adverse orders because advocates do not appear.
