Dr. Narayanan Nair, founder And Director of Kerala Law Academy, passed away on Wednesday.
Known for establishing the Kerala Law Academy at Thiruvanathapuram, he was its Principal from 1969 to 1988, serving as its Director since then.
Notably, Dr Nair played a key role in the establishment of the National University of Advanced Legal Studies at Kochi. Working at the University as its Vice-Chancellor from June 1 to December 31, he also served as a member on the University's Executive Committee.
Dr Nair completed his Bachelors (B.L.) from the Government Law College, Ernakulam in 1953 and later pursued his Masters (LLM) and PhD in law from the University of Kerala.
He is also the first PhD in law from his University till date and further holds the record for being the longest serving Syndicate Member as well as Senate Member of the University of Kerala in the history of the University .
A member of the Bar Council since 1990, he has been the Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Bar Council of Kerala for the past 15 years.
