The Gauhati High Court Bar Association has passed an unanimous resolution expressing dissatisfaction over the recommendation made by the Supreme Court collegium to transfer Justice Ujjal Bhuyan from Gauhati High Court to Bombay High Court.

The Association observed that the transfer of Justice Bhuyan, the third senior judge of Gauhati HC, would "adversely affect the administration of justice".

In Bombay High Court, Justice Bhuyan will be number 15 in seniority list. Justice Bhuyan has been playing a significant role in improving the administation of justice in Gauahti HC, observed the Association.

It was on August 28 that the Supreme Court collegium of Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi, Justices S A Bobde, Ramana, Arun Mishra, R F Nariman recommended the transfer.

The Association has urged the Central Government to return the recommendation. A delegation of advocates will meet the Union Law Minister to discuss the issue.

The Collegium proposal to transfer Justice Sanjay Kumar from Telangana HC to Punjab and Haryana High Court has also not gone down well with the members of Telangana  bar.

The Telangana High Court Bar Association has resolved to abstain form work till Saturday to protest the proposal.
