The Gujarat High Court has released a notification dated January 6, 2024, introducing the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for Online Electronic Filing (eFiling) to streamline processes within the Gujarat District Judiciary and Tribunals under its jurisdiction.

According to the notification, the SOP will be applicable to online e-filing and e-filing through Designated Counters and facilities provided for e-filing, including e-Service Centres. The categories of cases to which this SOP will apply will be specified by the High Court.

General Instructions:

1. e-Filing Portal: On-line e-filing can be initiated by visiting the web portal of the Court: [https://filing.ecourts.gov.in/pdedev/]

2. Actions through e-Filing: Actions in fresh, pending, or disposed of cases will be filed electronically by an advocate or litigant in person from their home, office, or other remote locations.

3. Accessing e-Filing Portal: Those unable to access the e-filing portal can utilize facilities at Designated Counters upon payment of charges if stipulated.

4. File Size Limit: The size of the e-file should not exceed 20 MB. Files exceeding this limit should be filed through intranet at Designated Counters.

Steps for Registration:

Advocates:

1. Visit the web portal.

2. Click the registration link.

3. Fill the form with necessary details.

4. Submit the filled-up form along with a self-attested copy of the Bar Council Registration Certificate or Bar Council I-card (in pdf format only).

Litigants in person:

1. Visit the web portal.

2. Click the registration link.

3. Fill the form with necessary details.

4. Submit the filled-up form along with the self-attested copy of any identity document issued by the Government (in pdf format only).

The notification also provides instructions on Frame of Pleadings, formatting, digital signatures, payment of Court Fees/Other Charges, retention of original documents, access to the Electronic Data of the Action, computation of time, and the procedure for filing Caveat.
