The Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh High Court on Tuesday issued summons to three Senior Advocates on a complaint lodged by State Law Secretary Achal Sethi over alleged professional misconduct and indulgence in anti-national activities.
High Court's Disciplinary Committee issued summons to former President of the Srinagar High Court Bar Association- Mian Abdul Qayoom, Senior Advocates Nazir Ronga and Ghulam Nabi.
In his complaint to Chief Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey, Sethi alleged that the trio has a history of pushing advocates to embrace anti-national sentiments. The complainant also elaborates upon secessionist activities that they allegedly indulged into, while being at the helm of affairs in High Court Bar Association, Kashmir.
Taking cognizance of the matter, the Chief Justice constituted a disciplinary committee comprising three sitting high court judges to address the complaint.
On perusal of the contents of the complaint and the material on record, the Committee was of the prima facie view that allegations leveled by the Law Secretary attract ingredients of professional Misconduct under the Advocates Act, 1961. The trio has thus been summoned on December 17, at 10:30 AM at the High Court premises.
