The Jharkhand State Bar Council (JSBC) and its affiliated associations on Wednesday raised funds for dependents of security personnel who have made the supreme sacrifice while protecting the country. The JSBC has also decided to provide free legal aid to affected families for securing their due government benefits.

After holding a meeting to condemn the Pulwama attack, members of the Advocates Association Jharkhand High Court collected funds from lawyers and staff members.

The Advocates Association and the district bar associations held donation camps to collect fund for the martyrs on the call given by the JSBC, said general secretary of Advocates Association Jharkhand High Court Neeraj Kumar. They also held general body meeting to mourn the martyrdom of CRPF bravehearts in the Pulwama attack, he added.

"This fund would be forwarded by JSBC to PM relief fund or the relief fund controlled by the defense forces or to the families of the martyrs in proportion to be decided by the council," stated Advocate General Jharkhand and chairman of JSBC Ajit Kumar.

Each association has also been asked to prepare a list of local security personnel who have made the supreme sacrifice for the country. The members have been directed to visit the families and provide them legal aid to ensure that the promises made to them after the martyrdom of their kin are fulfilled. The lawyers would also ensure that properties of the affected families are safe and secure.

The JSBC members also decided to visit the family of martyr Vijay Soreng, the CRPF jawan who was martyred in Pulwama attack, to express solidarity with them and offer assistance.
