A holiday court in Bandra on Sunday remanded the accused Shariful Islam Shehzad, an alleged Bangladeshi citizen, who attacked and injured Bollywood Actor Saif Ali Khan on Thursday after he was caught trespassing the actor's Bandra residence.

Shehzad was arrested by the Mumbai Police on early Sunday morning from Thane's Labour Camp area, where he worked as a housekeeper in a bar and restaurant.

On being produced before a holiday court, the prosecution sought 14 days custody pointing out that there was some "international conspiracy" which needs to be probed since the accused Shehzad was a Bangladeshi national and did not possess any valid documents. The prosecution told the court that it seeks to ascertain how the accused entered India and who helped him with the same.

The prosecution further highlighted that in the attack Saif Ali Khan sustained severe injuries and he had to be operated for removing 2.5 inches of the piece of blade, from his body. It also said that the police needs to interrogate the accused to unearth the motive for this attack.

In his defence, the accused through his counsel Sandeep Sherkhane argued that he had all valid documents and the case is being hyped just because the victim in the case is a celebrity.

Having heard the contentions, the holiday court remanded the accused to 5 days custody.
