A total of 3,37,680 cases were settled at the National Lok Adalat that was organized by the Karnataka State Legal Service Authority on December 18.

It was organized under the guidance of Justice Ritu Raj Awasthi, Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court cum Patron-in-Chief, KSLSA; Executive Chairman, KSLSA; and Chairman, High Court Legal Services Authority.

A total of 8,606, pre-litigation cases and 3,29,074 pending cases, were settled.

As per a press release issued by the Authority, a total of 113 cases have been settled at an aggregate amount of Rs. 157,18,21,548.

At the Industrial Tribunal, Bengaluru, a total of 25 cases have been settled in National Lok Adalat with the Compensation Amount of Rs. 2,03,74,837. This is the highest compensation paid to the workmen by the second party management.

As regards matrimonial disputes, a total of 1,528 cases came to be settled throughout the State; of these, in 37 cases the couple were reunited. As per statistics made available, in the court of Mysuru District 142 Family cases have been settled in which 25 couples have re-united. Similarly, in Gadag district 8 couples and 2 couples in Dharwad and one couple each in Chitradurga and Chikkaballapura have reunited after conciliation in the Lok-Adalat.

Another highlight was the settlement of a 35 years old pending property dispute, pending in the Court of Senior Civil Judge, Kundagol, Dharwad was settled. A suit pending in Bengaluru city court no. 8 for more than 22 years also got settled in the Lok-Adalat.

In Holenarasipura taluk, Hassan District, a 17 years old pending maintenance case was decided in Lok Adalat where the wife was given 1.28 gunta property. In the district of Chikkaballapura, after conciliation in the Lok Adalat, the son has agreed to look after his aged parents and maintenance case has been disposed of.
