Patna High Court has sought response from the Central and State Governments on a PIL regarding the deteriorating condition of the National Heritage related to freedom fighter Veer Kunwar Singh.

A division bench of Chief Justice Sanjay Karol and Justice S Kumar ordered,
"Reply to be positively filed by the respondents within a period of three weeks from today. Rejoinder thereto, if any, be filed within a period of one week thereafter."
This petition was filed before the court on behalf of one Shashi Kumar Singh.
Before the Court, the counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that many things related to him including the fort, museum of Babu Kunwar Singh in Jagdishpur are getting ruined due to lack of maintenance, while the government has declared this property as a national heritage.
It was further submitted that Babu Kunwar Singh has contributed a lot as a freedom fighter and it is important to take care of the heritage associated with him.
Now, the matter will be heard on 29th April,2022.
Advocate Sunil Kumar Singh and Advocate Ajay Kumar Singh appeared for the petitioner in the matter. ASG K.N. Singh appeared for the respondent.
Who was Veer Kunwar Singh?
Veer Kunwar Singh was a descendant of the famous ruler of Malwa, Maharaja Bhoj. He was born in the Ujjainiya Rajput family in November 1777 at Jagdishpur in Shahabad (present-day Bhojpur) district of Bihar state. He is also known as Babu Kunwar Singh.
Along with this, Kunwar Singh is known as the hero of India's first freedom struggle who fought at the age of 80.
He died on 26 April 1858 during the war with the British. On 23 April 1966, the Government of India also issued a memorial stamp in his name.
