Rajasthan HC Lawyer Among First Three Civilian Indians to Complete 100-Metre Deep-Sea Dive In Lakshadweep
A team of three (3) divers comprising of a lawyer, practicing at the Rajasthan High Court, Muktesh Maheshwari, along with two other divers, namely, Donarun Das and Rolan Mathias, achieved a historic milestone on March 31, 2026, becoming first civilian Indian divers to complete 100-meter dive in Indian territorial waters, conducted off the Kavaratti Island, Lakshdweep.
The dive was led by Donarun Das, a certified Depp Trimix and Rebreather instructor, and was supported by a team including Riyas Jalal and Sameer Aman, who managed surface coordination, safety oversight, and dive support.
The divers successfully unfurled the Indian flag at 100 meters, which most likely made it the deepest deployment of Indian flag by civilians, recorded in India or Indian territorial waters by Indian.
The achievement not only highlighted India's maturing technical diving ecosystem, but also positioned Lakshdweep as India's one of the most preferred locations for advanced diving and exploration.
