Chandigarh Court Issues Notice To Salman Khan's Being Human Foundation In Jewellery Franchise Complaint

A Chandigarh district court has issued pre-cognisance notice to Bollywood actor Salman Khan's company Being Human, his sister Alvira Khan Agnihotri, and the directors of Style Quotient Jewellery Pvt Ltd in a cheating complaint related to a Being Human jewellery showroom in Chandigarh. 

Judicial Magistrate Dr Ambika Sharma said, “this court deems it appropriate to issue notice to accused persons as per Proviso to Section 223 BNSS at pre- cognizance stage. Therefore, notice to accused persons be issued for 05.10.2026 on filing of RC/AD.”

Chandigarh businessman Arun Gupta filed the complaint, stating he had put in roughly Rs 3 crore to set up a Being Human jewellery showroom, having been assured beforehand that the venture would be profitable.

Gupta said over Rs 1 crore went into building out the showroom itself, and that he had met every requirement laid out in his agreement with Style Quotient Jewellery Pvt Ltd, the licensed marketer of Being Human jewellery.

Once the showroom opened, Gupta alleged, the business support he had been promised never materialized. He also said jewellery supply became erratic, leading to substantial financial damage.

The complaint states that the supplying outlet has been shut since February 2020, which hurt both inventory and sales. As a result, Gupta claims his losses have run into several crores.

Gupta also said he had been led to expect Salman Khan would inaugurate the showroom, but Khan's brother-in-law Aayush Sharma showed up in his place.

He reiterated that the supply outlet's closure since February 2020 had disrupted stock and affected his business, and further alleged that six people connected to the company had misrepresented the opportunity to get him to invest.
