Night belongs to women as well; it is the duty of the government to make public spaces safe for women - this was the message of the "Seize The Night" event which was organized by the women lawyers of All India Lawyers Union (AILU) wing of the Kerala High Court on Friday.

Judges of the Kerala High Court -Justices Mary Joseph, Sophy Thomas, CS Sudha and Shobha Annamma Eapen- and District Collector Dr. Renu Raj participated in the night gathering at Durbar Hall Ground, Ernakulam. The event witnessed jubilant scenes of dancing and singing by hundreds of women making a powerful declaration of gender equality and right to access public spaces.  Women from all walks of life turned up for the event. The gathering sent a strong message that the barriers against women are created by the regressive thinking of the society and that women are entitled to freedom and friendship beyond the limits of their homes.
