 Jagdeep Dhankhar, Senior Advocate, Supreme Court,  has been appointed as the new Governor of West Bengal, replacing Keshari Nath Tripathi.

Dhankhar is a former Lok Sabha MP from Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan during 1989-91, and former Minister in Central Government (1989-91), former Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Kishangarh, Rajasthan, and former President of Rajasthan High Court Bar Association, Jaipur.

He did his B.Sc., L.L.B from Jaipur. He is also a member of ICC International Court of Arbitration.

In 2003, he had quit Congress to join BJP.
