Saradha Chit Scam : Supreme Court Grants Bail To Director Sudipta Sen In CBI Case After Nearly 10 Years Custody
The Supreme Court has granted bail to Sudipta Sen, one of the directors of the Saradha Group, noting that she has been in custody since December 30, 2016.
Sen was accused of raising money from lakhs of small investors through agents over the last several years in West Bengal and adjoining States.
Later, when the company failed to return the money, the scam came to the notice of the public, and eventually the company owners and the top politicians allegedly involved in the scam were arrested.
After examining the status of the proceedings, the division bench of Justice Sanjay Karol and Justice Augustine George Masih stated:
"Considering the totality of circumstances and also the fact that the appellant has been in custody since 30.12.2016, we are inclined to grant bail to the appellant on such terms as may be fixed by the Trial Court. Ordered accordingly".
