With a view to reduce the arrears of cases, the High Court of Telangana has decided to hold special sittings on first and third Saturdays of every month to hear pending cases.

A press note issued by the Registrar General of the High Court stated that the special sitting was intended to "dispose of the old matters and to achieve the target of 5+0".

The list of old cases, likely to be taken up for hearing with the consent of both the counsel, will be published well in advance.

On November 2, a Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Ragahvendra Singh Chauhan and Justices A Abhishek Reddy decided four old criminal appeals.

Justices G S Sridevi, T Vinod Kumar and K Lakshman also held sitting on Saturday.

Totally, 48 cases were disposed of in today's special sitting.
